i am headed back to chiang mai this winter and am looking for advice from anyone who has found any thai massage schools in chiang mai that offer course hours that are recognized by the ncbtmb (national massage cert.) i think ITM and the Thai Massage School of C.M. do but i am not sure if you need to take every level they offer to qualify for continuing ed units needed to recert with ncbtmb. any info on this what other schools are associated w/ ncbtmb, quality of instruction and price would be appreciated.

Re: re: ncbtmb continuing ed units through chiang mai schools
Wed, October 29, 2008 - 9:52 AMWish I could help you more, but my state (Oregon) does not require renewal of NCBTMB. They do, however, require CE credits, and I am certain that old medicine hospital certificates are accepted. I hope this helps some?
If you study with pichest, your softened banana tree will be your certificate

Re: re: ncbtmb continuing ed units through chiang mai schools
Sat, January 24, 2009 - 10:10 PMI am currently Attending the ITM CAPT program and from what I understand they break it up into seperate units, so If Just wanted to do one level that would be fine. The price per Level I am not sure though it is more expesive then many of the none certified courses I have seen around here. THe level of instruction... Well I am being challanged here because It feel mechanical, they go through alot of the series of movemnt with no sensitivity exersices or really much information beyond the sequence. They are offering alot fo information, but it is very conservative and rigid, also there are many people with out any bodywork experience, even that of personal body awareness which I find dangerous espacially with out detailed explanation of body mechanics and whats going on in some of the stretches..
Hope thats of some help

Tue, January 27, 2009 - 5:47 AMthanks for replying with some relevant information regarding ce hours for the ncbtmb. after speaking w/ a rep. there and cruising the website, i found that ITM and TMC both provide ce hours. the wat po school is currently in the process of finishing their documentation and maybe ready by april.
after visiting ITM, i understand your feelings about what you are experiencing. good luck and maybe i will see you around chiang mai.
